Privacy notice
Last updated 15 October 2026
This notice explains, in plain English, what happens to your personal data when you subscribe to The Coin Flip, the free daily newsletter written by Liam “Akiba” Wright. It is written for UK GDPR.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Liam Wright. You can contact me about anything in this notice at liam [at] akiba [dot] gg.
What I collect
- Your email address.
- Your name, only if you choose to give it.
- The time you signed up and the IP address you signed up from. These are kept as proof that you gave consent.
Why, and on what basis
I use this data for one thing: sending you The Coin Flip. The lawful basis is your consent. Sign-up uses double opt-in: nothing is sent until you click the confirmation link in the first email.
Who processes it for me
- listmonk, the mailing-list software, which I host myself on a DigitalOcean server.
- Amazon Web Services SES (eu-north-1 region, Stockholm), which delivers the emails.
What I don’t do
- No individual open or click tracking.
- I don’t sell your data, and I don’t share it with anyone beyond the processors above.
- This website uses no advertising trackers and no analytics.
How long I keep it
Until you unsubscribe. After that, I keep a minimal bounce or suppression record so that you are not emailed again.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data (access), ask me to correct it (rectification) or delete it (erasure), and object to its use. Email me at the address above. If you are unhappy with how I handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Unsubscribing
Every email has an unsubscribe link. One click and you are off the list.
